The Hebrew letter "vav" in the shape of a vertical line represents the spiritual connection between our world and the higher worlds, between us and our spiritual source. It is the third letter of the essential Divine Name. As such, it corresponds to our living connection with the source of all life and all reality. Just as there is a "vav" that animates this world, so too is there a "vav" in every higher world reaching to the unknowable Divine essence itself. By rising above our physical needs and desires, by reaching for Divine truth, we can rise above our limitations and boldly transcend whatever is holding us back. Yet that connection requires effort and giving of ourselves, unselfishly and fully, to fulfill our higher purpose in this world.
