Judaism Artwork
Judaism and art went hand in hand almost from the first moment of Jewish peoplehood. The Jewish People in the Wilderness of Sinai were taught – via Betzalel’s connection with the Divine – the art of metalwork and painting and sculpture in crafting the intricate and holy vessels and furnishings and altars of the Tabernacle. This tradition of combining Judaism and art continued into the First and Second Temple periods and thereafter in the long Roman Exile to this day.
Judaism has countless themes of beauty and truth, Judaism and art combine to extract these themes, whether embodying stories from the Tanach (Five Books of Moses, Writings, and Prophets) or focusing on the Holy texts and ancient Hebrew letters themselves.
